TECHNICAL STAFF
Ben Tammami, P.E.,
Founder
and President
Began his 29 years of experience in process and
heat transfer engineering
and equipment
specification. A s
design engineer in charge of heat exchanger division with
a major shell and tube and
pressure vessel
fabricator, Mr. Tammami gained the bulk of his experience in equipment design and manufacturing.
He also has extensive engineering and supervising experience with major oil, engineering
and construction firms on several gas,
and petrochemical projects. His heat transfer experience includes
thousands of
shell-and-tube and air cooler design, over 2,800 of which are in operation worldwide.
Mr. Tammami has authored several technical papers in heat transfer and fluid flow
including publications in Hydrocarbon Processing, Chemical Engineering and Oil & Gas
Journal. He has developed number of software including thermal design and cost estimating
for shell & tube heat exchangers. He holds a BS degree in chemical engineering from
the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a member of AIChE, API, heat transfer division of
ASME, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.

Ahmed E. Kassem, P.E.
Dr. Kassem is one of the leading experts in heat transfer. He received his MS degree from
University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D from the University of California at
Santa Barbara, both in mechanical engineering with majors in heat transfer, fluid and gas
dynamics. His experience includes over 16 years of research, design and computer program
development with HTRI* where as a lead he directed two-phase flow research, designed and
developed HTRI's 'CST' program. He has held supervisory positions with engineering and
construction firms including Bechtel Corp. where he was the head of heat transfer division
in their Los Angeles office.
Dr. Kassem is the author of several publications including condenser performance, tube
vibrations and fouling of shell and tube exchangers which have been presented in AIChE and
ASME symposiums and international heat transfer conferences. He is a registered
Professional Engineer in State of California.

Abe Salehpour, P.E.
Has over 18 years of research, development, and project management experience in heat
transfer, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, design and automation, and petrochemical process.
Dr. Salehpour has MBA from California State University and Ph.D in mechanical engineering
from Carnegie-Mellon University. He has held various positions including 7 years as senior
research engineer with HTRI* where he was in charge of shell-and-tube, plate heat
exchanger (PHE) and fired heater research activities. He was also responsible for HTRI
scheduling, administrating and development of computer program for rating PHEs and fired
heaters. He also held senior level engineering positions with major engineering and
construction companies in the U.S.
Dr. Salehpour has conducted numerous training workshops on design of condensers and
reboilers in the U.S. and Europe. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California
and a member of ASME.
Leon Manian, P.E.
Mr. Manian is a chief design specialist on corrosion, cathodic protection and coating with
over twenty years of experience in data analysis, specification, design, construction and
troubleshooting.
His expertise include tank farm, pipelines, plant equipment, vessel interiors and offshore
structures used in oil & gas production, chemical plant, refinery, bio-treatment,
power, offshore and water treatment industries. His experience extends to protective
coatings and linings as well as corrosion testing as they supplement corrosion control
provided by cathodic protection.
Mr. Manian has held senior positions as chief corrosion technologist with major operating
companies and engineering & construction firms and has worked on numerous small to
mega size projects. He has authored several publications in NACE, MP magazine and has made
presentations in NACE seminars and symposiums.
Mr. Manian has a Masters degree in Corrosion Science from the University of Manchester in
United Kingdom. He is a member of NACE technical committee, T-7 and T10, has NACE
certification on corrosion category P, cathodic protection and protective coatings, and is
a registered professional corrosion engineer in State of California and Texas.

Ali Mustansir, P.E.
Has served in number of engineering areas in his 25 years of career experience in
petrochemical industry including process, heat transfer, quality control, P&ID,
process flow diagram, heat and material balance. As a lead engineer with a major
fabricator, Mr. Mustansir participated in design, fabrication, erection and commissioning
of the first multi-solids fluidized bed combuster in the United States. As a senior
engineer with engineering and construction firms he worked as heat transfer specialist in
combustion analysis, design, operations and trouble shooting of burners, process heaters,
boilers, flares and pollution control equipment. He has extensive experience in combined
cycle fluidized bed, combustion calculations and cost estimating for various equipment.
Mr Mustansir has a MS degree in chemical engineering from the University of New York at
Buffalo. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California and Kansas and AIChE
member.
